CONTEXT

paddypower.com is the largest bookmaker (sports betting) in Ireland, and the third largest online bookie in the UK.

Last year, Paddy Power was the first bookmaker to launch an iPhone and iPad application – being at the forefront of innovation in mobile betting is a new brand message they seek to communicate. Traditionally the brand has been centred around three core principles – being fun, fair and friendly. In all communication and advertising Paddy Power aims to entertain and engage.

The latest Paddy Power TV campaign has just launched. In each of these ads a really pretentious scene of models pawing a smartphone – similar to what a mobile phone network might do in their advertising – is interrupted by “the Paddy Power guy” who grabs the phone and points out that it’s a mobile phone, for betting on with Paddy Power.

Now we want you to get out your cameras and show us what you can do!

BRIEF

Create a 30-60 second video or animation based on the existing campaign – a pretentious or clichéd scene interrupted by a person suggesting using Paddy Power on a smart phone or iPhone.
You can imagine any type of scene you like, or any off beat scenario, background, idea, situation that would be encapsulate the same tone as the ads. Be sure to be impactful, funny, and viral (makes you want to share the creation with your friends) so that you stand out from the crowd!

GUIDELINES

Have a look at the ads for inspiration (available on the summary page’s player)
If you’re using text/subtitles in your work, it must be in English
Use the 4 second logo board and voice over provided (to insert at the end of your creation) : download it HERE
You MUST use music and images that are commercial use & copyright-free.
Paddy Power is a fun brand, but they do have responsibilities when it comes to TV advertising.
- Some basic rules apply.
- Nobody in the ads below 21 years old.
- Nobody who looks ‘vulnerable’.
- No references to compulsive gambling behavior.

Extra brownie points if you add a reprise at the end (an extra gag after the 4 second logo board)
The ideal video will appeal to 21-35 year-old male sports fans that live in the UK.

Entry Specification
Winner of the best video/animation entry must supply the original working files in 720p and 1080p High Definition version, so make sure to keep a HD or uncompressed MOV version of your work.

PRIZES

Total prize fund £10,000 + fame

Jury’s prizes: Overall winner selected by PP judging panel

- 1st prize: £3,000 + video aired on Sky Sports (No.1 Sports Channel in the UK)
Subject to Paddy Power’s approval and video adhering to broadcast guidelines.

- 2nd prize: £1,000

- Runners-up: £500 x 2

- Early bird prizes: £500 x 2
These are early bird prizes, awarded to the best videos entered during two periods in March:
- £500 for the best video entered between 4th March, 4:00 PM (London time) & 18th March, 11:00 AM (London time)
- £500 for the best video entered between 18th March, 11:01 AM (London time) 25th March, 11:00 AM (London time)
